Hydrawash Racing has completed a fantastic weekend of racing at the Wakefield 300. Held in the wettest weekend seen in Goulburn for almost 20 years, the team consisting of two TargaRacing prepared NC Mazda MX5’s finished 5th outright and 1st and 2nd in class.
The event had 40 starters including a variety of turbo 4wd’s, V8’s, future racers, production cars, sports cars and sports sedans.
Hydrawash team owner and driver of car #57 Michael Hall said “What a great result for our whole team. To have 2 cars in the top 10 is an awesome result we are very proud of. The weather conditions suited our cars very well and this combined with some slick work in the pit stops had us in the front pack for the entire race.
Co-driver and car preparer Chris Gough of TargaRacing added “we only just completed the build on this car last week and came to this event virtually untested. The car was easily the best MX5 I’ve driven, and I’ve driven a few. Racing this weekend with team Hydrawash has been a huge amount of fun and many thanks to Michael for inviting me to co-drive with him in an event I’ve wanted to do for some time”
Driver of car #75 Steven Head said “A great team effort for all involved and huge amount of fun. The car was really good to drive and very well set up”
Co-driver of car #75 Nick Martinenko added “Having never raced a NC before I was not sure what to expect but have come away with a new respect for these great cars. With their awesome handling and brakes it was a pleasure to drive in some testing conditions. Great fun!!”
Michael Hall continued “Many thanks to everyone at Wakefield Park and sponsor Kumho tyres for holding a fantastic event and we’re already looking forward to the Winton 300 in November”
From Terry Nightingale – event commentator “The highlight for me though was the Hydrawash MX5 of Chris Gough and Michael Hall …who never seem to set foot off the racing surface to come home in a respectful 5th outright and winning thier division”
